Nick Shrubsole is a veteran of the North American DIY circuit. Between 2005 and 2012, he fronted the Canadian punk band Broadcast Zero (Stumble Records / Rebel Time Records), a period defined by relentless touring that spanned from Victoria, BC to St. John’s, NL, and as far north as Whitehorse, Yukon.
Now based in Central Florida, Shrubsole has returned to the forefront with his 2024 full-length LP, Destroy Yourself With Me. The album is a definitive bridge between his past and present, blending raw, folk-driven storytelling with the high-voltage urgency of his punk roots.
The release has sparked a new chapter of activity, from coast-to-coast solo tours across Canada to the recent rekindling of Broadcast Zero for select full-band performances. Whether he’s playing a stripped-back songwriter set or a rowdy punk show, the mission remains the same: honest, weathered music delivered with the intensity of a lifer who has seen every mile of the road.
Destroy Yourself With Me is an illustration of ten moments
in time—past and present—adorned with the battle scars of love,
loss, good drink, and revolutionary aspirations. With a hard-hitting
acoustic attack and gritty vocals that carry the weight of
Shrubsole's punk history, the album offers a soundtrack for those
who have lived life on their own terms.
